IRS and AP blunders..anybody have answers in Washington? PDF Print E-mail

I wonder what White House spokesperson Jay Carney is thinking about as he is pelted with questions at the daily briefing. Let's start with the IRS. Steven Miller, the acting IRS commissioner broke his silence in an op:ed published in the USA Today, he says the agency was just trying to manage the explosive growth in applications for 501(c)(4) status that started pouring in the IRS in 2010.

Miller said, "Mistakes were made, but they were in no way due to any political or partisan motivation - We are and will continue to be - dedicated to reviewing all applications for tax-exempt status in an impartial manner." So is the agency official who acknowledged last week that conservative groups seeking nonprofit status were targeted for extra screening lying?

If only there was a way to find out who the leak was on this one? I know call the Department of Justice. Speaking of the DOJ - today Attorney General Eric Holder had a press conference saying that he recused himself in the Justice Department's decision to seize phone records from Associated Press Journalists.

Needless to say there are lots of investigations going on in D.C. The funk in foggy bottom tonight on ATN.

Honeywell Hijinks PDF Print E-mail

In 2010, Honeywell took a $25 million grant from the U.S. Department of Energy as part of President Barack Obama’s stimulus bill.  As part of the Obama Administration’s larger green-energy agenda, the $25 million taxpayer gift was specifically allocated for a biofuels demonstration plant to be built in Oahu, Hawaii.  The DOE and Honeywell claimed that the project would create 85 construction jobs and 40 permanent jobs per year; however, an April 2012 report by the Honolulu Civil Beat found that only about 10 permanent jobs were created.

“Honeywell took $25 million from hard-working Americans and created 10 jobs – a cost of $2.5 million per job.  This type of corporate cronyism needs to stop,” said National Center Free Enterprise Project Director Justin Danhof, Esq. a guest on America Tonight says  “If the Obama Administration will not hold companies accountable once they dole out our money, it is up to citizens and shareholders to put a cost of doing business onto companies that squander these massive taxpayer gifts.  Maybe next time Honeywell executives will think twice before they rob the public blind.” Send the CEO of Honeywell David Cote a letter - Honeywell International 101 Columbia Road, Morristown, NJ 07962.
