Carl Crawford has finally broken his silence on a horrible tragedy that occurred on May 16th in his Houston residence.
The four-time All-Star outfielder posted a heartfelt message on social media, reflecting the double drowning of a 5-year-old child and a woman in his swimming pool. “My Hearts Heavy. The tragic events that occurred at my home will be with me forever,” the post reads. “I’m at a loss for words I’ve struggled all week to manage my emotions and I keep thinking of the families of those who’ve passed and their grief, I know they have it the hardest.”
“They are the first and last thing I think of these days. Please keep them in your prayers, I know they will always be in mine.”
Houston police responded to a call from Crawford’s home in the afternoon last Saturday. Police spokeswoman Jodi Silva told The Houston Chronicle that the boy was swimming in the pool when he began to have trouble breathing. The woman jumped in to save him but eventually drowned herself. Crawford tried to resuscitate the victims, to no avail/ Both were unresponsive when police arrived and later declared dead at a hospital.
It was revealed that the boy and the woman were not related, but he was in her care that day during a small gathering held by Crawford.
