A huge fire took place in a large warehouse in San Francisco. The accident happened on May 23rd and began at Pier 45 at Fisherman’s Wharf. Firefighters dealt with the problem, but there was a risk of injuring the old ship SS Jeremiah O’Brien, which was moored nearby. Used in a Second World War, today it is a historical monument.

Only two fully operational «Liberty» ships remain in the world to the date from those was used during the legendary Allies landings in Normandy, France, in June 1944.

San Francisco Fire Department pointed out the fact that there was only some paint damage on the ship’s hull. 150 firefighters put out the fire. No other damage and casualties are reported, excluding three ferry and vessel services.

Also, the press service of the city’s fire department noted that 150 firefighters took part in operation. The cause of the fire is yet to be determined.
