On the evening of April 16th, a middle-aged, wheelchair-bound man attacked a woman out of the blue in Queens. The incident took place on the northbound E train platform at 71st Avenue and Queens Boulevard in Forest Hills, due to press reports.
The perpetrator was identified as Daniel Arquette, a 57-year-old homeless man. He was seen acting anxiously and erratically, wheeling down the platform. The woman ignored him and continued to wait for the train. Seconds after, she felt a strong pain in her back after he came somewhere nearby.
She then reached back to inspect and discovered a bleeding puncture wound.
The police immediately detained the man and charged him with assault. Arquette’s motives are unclear at this point, but it is possible that he was under the influence.
The victim was treated at Jamaica Hospital, and her life is not in danger.
