A new species of monkey has been found. It is a bittersweet find as there are only a couple of hundred of them left in the wild. It is ironic that the clue that led to them was a preserved specimen in a national history museum.  Which goes to show how important such places are. In terms of our past and as in this case our future. There are now three scientific institutions teaming up to ensure that the remaining few are protected. It is essential that they continue to exist as losing them would constitute another species lost. We have thus far lost so many species that it is difficult to quantify the full effects of their loss. We exist in a symbiotic world and many of the world’s creatures help us to survive.

The speed at which we have lost so many is truly horrifying. Let us hope these new primates are not lost to us as soon as they have been found.
