It was only seven in the morning on April 7th when a truck driver Idris Abdus-Salaam attacked four women in Strawberry Plains Pike. Three of them were killed on the spot.
The crime took place at the Pilot Travel Center truck stop. The deceased women, Joyce Whaley, Patricia Nibbe, and Nettie R. Spencer were local staff members. The injured survivor, whose name is currently unknown, was a guest.
When the Knox County officers showed up at the center, they saw a woman bleeding outside, a knife-wielding man beside her. After failing to comply and drop the weapon he was shot dead.
The state of Tennessee investigators are currently trying to determine Abdus-Salaam’s motives. So far it was revealed that he was 33 and originally from North Carolina. He was arrested in 2018 for evading arrest in a vehicle, reports CBS17.
