The vice president-elect is busy building her team that will help her fulfil her new role. Announcements identify three people all women and women of colour are going to fill her top positions. They will join a team of two others who are also women of colour. In these appointments, I did not say wanted women of colour. I said I wanted people who were the best available fit for the roles. In selecting these women all seasoned career veterans in their roles. She is showing the commitment to diversity that the party elect has. She has also announced two major thrusts she wishes to pursue. One is children welfare and the other is small business. The pandemic has disproportionately affected ethnic minority businesses. She wants to play a major role in righting these issues. However, the first order of her role is what the president-elect wishes.
